Grass-fed, pasture-raised American Bison from a private ranch on the south edge of the old Cherokee boundary line. Possibly the longest continual bison operation in Alabama.
We don’t cross our bison with anything. No beefalo. No shortcuts. Just pure American Bison, raised on open pasture in northeast Alabama the way nature intended.
Boundary Line Bison Ranch sits along the south edge of the old Cherokee territorial boundary line of Alabama. That’s where our name comes from. DJ White’s family has worked this land since the 1960s, first with cattle, and since 1998 with bison. We’ve been members of the National Bison Association from the very start, and we’re proud members of Sweet Grown Alabama, the state’s agricultural branding program for Alabama-grown products.
What comes off our ranch is lean, nutrient-dense red meat. Our customers tell us it tastes better, feels better, and in more cases than you’d expect, it agrees with bodies that no longer tolerate beef.

Steaks, roasts, ground, and jerky. Any cut you can get from beef, we can cut from bison. Grass-fed, grass-finished, and USDA processed.
Bison bones for broth, stock, and slow-simmered comfort. Carvers and artists buy them too. A growing favorite for folks focused on natural nutrition.
Hides and skulls find their way to Native craftspeople and artists. We also help other ranchers begin their own bison operations.
We also raise herbs, and we welcome school groups, FFA, 4-H, and civic groups out to the ranch to see the American Bison up close.
Grass-finished bison runs around 95% fat-free. Compare that to roughly 90% for grain-fed. The flavor is deeper than beef and the protein is denser. A lot of folks who’ve had to step away from beef tell us bison is one red meat that still works for them.
We hear the same story from customers all the time. We’ve put together a short Health Notes page with what we’ve learned, plus a few labels worth watching for at the meat counter.
We post ranch news, what’s fresh, and a little life from the pasture. Follow along below to see our latest updates.
